A tribal college rooted in history and focused on the future.
The buildings that house the College are part of a historic district, the Pawnee Agency and Indian Boarding School. From 1878 to 1958, the sandstone buildings on the Pawnee Reserve served as the Pawnee Indian Boarding School, nicknamed Gravy U by the students who attended the boarding school. The Boarding School carried out elementary and middle school instruction to Indian students from across the region. Today, those same hallowed grounds that once strived to sever students from their cultural heritage and traditions acts as a place of healing and growth for students, a beacon for knowledge and a return to their cultural ways.
The college strives to provide a roadmap home for tribal members of the Pawnee Nation and other surrounding area tribes, and anyone with a desire to learn. The healing, much like the learning, is far from complete.
